Do People Really Hate Mobile MMO's?
Hello CyberNinjas! Lately I've been playing a lot of Mobile MMORPG games, since I am without my Xbox One for the time being and I have a gaming addiction I just have to indulge. I only played the free ones and the ones that weren't massive storage hogs, so that narrows the bunch quite a bit. I currently have one I do play and actually enjoy, but we're not here to talk about which mobile game I enjoyed, right? Moving on...➟➟➟
If you're like me, you're one of those gamers that either look at reviews, or look at actual game play footage before making a decision to download/buy a game. With mobile games, reviews tend to matter a bit, since they're on the page of the app, the people who have played or used the app give their own personal review which you read and you either think "Yeah, I want this." or "Eww the reviews for this suck. I'll pass." When I would look through the user reviews on most of these mobile MMORPG games is that the devs are money hungry, it's "Pay to Win" or "Pay to keep playing" (Like how some console games will add updates to the game and lock them behind a paywall for players to play/continue playing... Also known as DLC.) Or the worst in my opinion, the devs are out of touch with the players.

Now I'm sure some of you out there might think those people in the user reviews might just be bitter, whiny players who will never be satisfied, and you may be right, but in mobile games, especially the free to play ones, the encouragement to use real world currency to get ahead of other players and obtain benefit for spending money on the game (VIP, Royalty, etc...) is serious. There was one game I had downloaded that said there was no VIP system and no Pay to Win, so tell me how as soon as I reached a high enough level (You can reach ridiculously high levels FAST in these games too.) I was greeted with a pop up ad to spend money of my own to bypass energy restrictions, get some powerful gear and a few other items to blow through the game? There's people out there who have spent literally thousands of dollars on these games and have written bad reviews for some of these games. In all honesty, that persons opinion has more weight than a bunch of people who gave it 4 and 5 star ratings. That thousand dollar dissatisfaction would be what, and has, drove me away from downloading some games.

In my experience of playing Mobile MMORPG games, they have generally been positive. There's some that I found just plain boring at some point, and others that have frustrated the hell out of me because I'd hit a wall at some point in the game with progressing through the campaign or strengthening my character for higher level content. Or the game would update and takes up so much of my measly 8GB of storage on my phone that I can't play the game anymore. (Google, can you please place ome limits on how large an app file can be? Facebook is always updating and takes up so much storage with little to no explanation.) It sucks sometimes, because a lot of the games I really want to play on my phone I cant even play because I have such little space. Oh well. 😿
Let me know what you think about Mobile MMORPG's. Do you like them? Hate them? Have indifference towards them? I'm all ears. 😸
Til next time, CyberNinjas.
